At Vermijo Community Garden, we feed ourselves while working with the Earth, not against her.
This is a shared garden in the heart of Old Colorado City where food, soil, and relationships are tended together.
Vermijo Community Garden exists to cultivate relationship with land and community. We are here to nourish people and place while strengthening local food resilience.
You won’t find raised boxes or isolated plots here! Vermijo is a collaborative garden. We grow collectively, share responsibility, and learn side by side.
Our work sits somewhere between a community garden and a small CSA, rooted in cooperation rather than ownership.

Vermijo is a chemical-free, organic garden guided by ecological practices that work with living systems rather than trying to control them.
Our methods include:
Permaculture design that mirrors natural ecosystems
Hugelkultur beds built with wood and organic matter to retain moisture and build soil
Partnership planting to support plant health and productivity
Water conservation suited to our high desert climate
We believe food and health are inseparable. When we tend soil with care, we tend ourselves and each other.
The wait for locally grown, organic food is over. These spaces already exist! They need people willing to show up. 🙂
If you are ready to grow food, tend land, and committed to being part of something rooted and real, we would love to grow with you.
